Buta-1,3-diene is a butadiene with unsaturation at positions 1 and 3. It has a role as a mutagen and a carcinogenic agent. Butadiene is a colorless gas with an aromatic odor. It is shipped as a liquefied gas under its vapor pressure. Contact with the liquid can cause frostbite.
