Methanethiol is an alkanethiol. It has a role as a Saccharomyces cerevisiae metabolite and a human metabolite. Methyl mercaptan appears as a colorless low-boiling liquid that is denser than water. Very toxic by inhalation. Can be absorbed through the skin.
