It is a member of quinolines, a mancude organic heterobicyclic parent, an azaarene and an ortho-fused heteroarene. Quinoline appears as a colorless liquid with a peculiar odor. Slightly denser than water. Contact may irritate to skin, eyes, and mucous membranes.
